This series was a group of small patchwork knitted, crocheted, and felted cardies and vests I created for last winter. This year's will be different. Watch this space.
Recycle or destroy?
I am sometimes given old fur capes and jackets. They are so beautiful (except those with the heads and feet still attached) and it is terrible that we used to kill animals for our fashion whims. I find it difficult to destroy these lovely old furs but I think we can we justify recycling them without condoning the killing of animals for their fur?
Gifts
I
enjoy felting and have developed a little gift idea with my
brooches. Each of the brooches pictured below can be pinned onto a comb
to make a small fascinator or pinned onto a decorated head-band.
Available singly or in combination and presented in a transparent gift box.
The lime green chiffon "essensual" wrap scarf was made from the skirt of a 70s dress. A panel was taken from the skirt and felted with wool. It was then cut in a spiral pattern and opened out. The inner edge was beaded, and the outer edge fluted or curled. It can be worn in a number of ways and has its own matching brooch to hold it in place.
It can be worn anytime over a plain dress; cammie; tank-top; jumper or jacket. It also looks lovely worn on the waist or hip line.
A couple of other colour ideas are also included here.
